Restaurant Reviews: French Loaf (Houma, LA)
Restaurant Reviews: French Loaf is a small Poboy shop in Houma, LA. I had heard good things so we decided to check them out. and we are glad we did!! All of their Poboys are served on house made french bread loafs. Here a “whole” Poboy is 24 inches!!! Other poboy shops 12 inches in the largest available.
First off the bread is amazing!! There is no problem telling that is is baked fresh in house daily. A real treat! We also sampled the white beans over rice and crawfish Etouffee. Both of which were featured specials the day we dropped in.
The Etouffee was incredible. Chocked full of Fresh Louisiana crawfish tails. nice and thick texture. Made with fresh Trinity veggies (onion, bell pepper, celery) and seasoned well, not to mild not to spicy. The scratch made potato salad on the side was also delightful. Light and fluffy potatoes and simple. Just potato, mayo and a touch of mustard.
White Beans were also great! Low cooked all day to a creamed consistency with chunks of falling apart Ham ! Comfort food to the max! This came with Shrimp Boulettes on the side which are diced up shrimp mixed with seasonings then mixed in with a liquid type batter, form into balls then deep fried!! I dont see how you can go wrong there!!! Needles to say after this meal we thought we were in heaven, but turns out it was French Loaf in Houma!!
