Restaurant Reviews: Albasha Greek & Lebanese (Baton Rouge, LA)
Albasha Has several Locations in Baton Rouge & other Cities in Louisiana. They are very well known for being the place to go for Greek & Lebanese Food. We Visited the location on Sherwood Forest Blvd in this review.
The inside of the place is done very nice. You get the feeling of comfortable fine dining. We were greeted my a very nice young Lady and were seated right away. The menu has a very wide array of Mediterranean & Mid-east offerings. We were Impressed at the extent & balance of the menu even venturing into shrimp and various fish dishes in addition to classics like Gyros & sharwarma. I started out with a Lebanese tea to Drink and Fried Kibbi as an appetizer, Which is a Cracked wheat mixed with Fine Meat, stuffed with ground beef, pine nuts and onion. Served with a side of Cucumber sauce. Kibbi was awesome!! A different but pleasant flavor. Coating was a little crispy and stayed together nicely!
For Entrees. I had The Combo Kabob Platter. I chose Beef Tenderloin & Chicken. Most entrees Comes with a Feta Salad, Steamed Rice Pilaf, Hummus. The Kabob plate also gets Grilled Veggies!! This dish is a ROCk STAR!!!!! first off I was amazed at the portion size, Especially since one of the meats was tenderloin! The Beef was SOOOOOOO tender, cooked perfect Medium as I ordered. The Chicken is all boneless white meat. marinaded overnight in a greek spice blend/Olive oil blend, then fire grilled to order was also Superb! Also fork tender and so full of flavor There was literally a party going on in my mouth!! The Grilled Veggies go perfectly with a bite of either meat followed by a refreshing bite of the Feta cheese salad. The rice serves as a greet pallet cleanser which is needed when switching between meats as contrast as chicken & steak.
Eric Had the Combination Chicken Shwarma and Gyros. Fresh boneless chicken marinated in garlic, olive oil and Lebanese spices, cut into thin slices & Gyros: A lean blend of ground beef and lamb broiled vertically cut into thin slices, served with Te same set up as My Entree. This is a staple dish here and their biggest seller. A Classic dish that combines both Greek and Lebanese cuisine on one plate. Meat is always cooked to perfection. Very tender and flavorful. We also both agree their Hummus is the best around. If you are new to this type of cuisine this is what you should start with for sure!
in Conclusion, if you want Greek and Lebanese food, and you want to make sure it will be consistently good each time you go then Albasha is the place for you. They are friendly people that run the place and happy to serve you. We had a very wonderful experience from start to finish & They have earned our business for life.
