Restaurant Reviews: Schlittz & Giggles (Baton Rouge, LA)
Restaurant Reviews: We went to the Downtown Location on 3rd St. We were just about the only ones in there around 11:30am. We ordered the Italian nachos and a rustica Pizza. Took over 45 minutes to get pizza, but the nachos came out after 20 minutes so of course my dining partner was finished eating before I even got my Pizza.
Italian nachos were totally an abomination. Was like a solid mass since they do not use a liquid cheese and it all hardened up like a rock and made the whole things like one solid piece. For the laundry list of ingredients on the menu for this item it was surprisingly devoid of toppings. After the top layer was eaten by chiseling out pieces of it with a knife, there was a huge pile of just empty chips. We found little meat and supposed to have 2 different meats on it. Was not very flavorful either overall, not a good experience to say the least.
Rustica pizza was better for sure, taste was good but again VERY little toppings in way of meat. Was supposed to have 2 meats plus long list of other stuff but found one piece of meat per piece of pizza if that, and it was super thin all the way through very thin layer of cheese and other toppings were lacking big time.
For this style of food plenty of other places are way better like past time lounge and etc…Considering that the Items we ordered were recommended to us by the person working here, We were even more disappointed.
The one plus is they gave me a coupon for one free slice (woohoo) but only when I buy one slice at full price. The cashier gave this to us for the long wait. But that hardly makes up for the experience we had at this place….They Do have a bar area with pizza by the slice ready to go, and maybe that is better stuff than what we got (we hope) I will say the place has a good atmosphere and does draw a crowd late night for drinks and music.
