Louie’s cafe is a Baton Rouge institution! They have been serving up diner classics since 1941. They are Located in baton Rouge, LA just one block south of LSU Campus. They are also open 24/7 serving anyone who seeks good food and good company around the clock. The place has remained unchanged since its opening. When you are at Louie’s you get a glimpse of a simpler time. Your cares and worries seem to melt away as you check out the old school red bar stool and checkered floor, and all you can think about is what will I order this time!! They are famous for their “Cajun hash Browns” and “Veggie Omelet” made with ten different fresh vegetables .
We had an order of the Super Hash Browns. They start by cubing up whole potatoes and cook smothering them down slowly on the flat top until they are nice and soft. several applications of their house seasoning go down during the cooking process. Truly they resemble more what I would call Home Fries, but these are Delicious called by ANY name!! The Super Browns were topped with Shredded Colby cheese, Grilled Mushrooms, sour cream and green onion. A true treat on a late night!!
Now Make way for “THE MITCHELL ” An enormous Omelette made with fresh eggs and stuffed with Mushrooms, Cheese , breakfast sausage and Hash browns!!.. We had the regular size and it was still far to much to eat!! As you can see it takes up an entire plate! Eggs were pillow soft and fluffy, filling was hot and melty good!!
As you can tell we Fell in love with this Baton Rouge institution and highly recommend dining here at any hour of the day or night!
